Rose Bundy is no ordinary child, as she shares her last name with a man who is one of the most prolific serial killers of all time. Yes, Rose Bundy or Rosa Bundy is the daughter of Ted Bundy.

Let us read about Rose Bundy- the child of a serial killer

1) The irony

Ted Bundy, the father of Rose Bundy is one of the most notorious serial killers of all time. The irony is that a man who killed at least 30 women if not more during his lifetime went on to have a daughter of his own.

2) The union of two souls

Rose Bundy’s mother was Carole Ann Boone, she and Ted Bundy were colleagues and met in 1974 at the Department of Emergency Services in Olympia, Washington. At the time Boone wasn’t aware that Bundy was murdering and kidnapping women.

Bundy then expressed a desire to date Boone, but she wanted to keep the relationship strictly platonic between them.

3) Reconnection in the Utah Prison

Although their relationship was platonic at first they fell in love after reconnecting in a Utah Prison in 1977. Boone would write to Bundy regularly and even visit him in prison. Many even speculate that it was Boone who helped Bundy escape prison in Colorado and eventually escape to Florida.

4) The 1980 trial

Boone attended Ted Bundy’s 1980 trial where he was charged with killing Chi Omega sorority girls Margaret Bowman and Lisa Levy. Here Bundy acted as his own defence attorney and even called Boone to the stand as a character witness.

During this time, Boone had moved to Gainesville, which was about 40 miles from the prison, in an attempt to be closer to Bundy.

5) The proposal

Boone took stand in Bundy’s defence in the trial of Kimberly Leach’s murder and kidnapping, the serial killer subsequently proposed to her.

This was an optimum situation for Bundy. As the true-crime writer Anne Rule and the author of Bundy’s biography ‘The Stranger Beside Me‘, explains that an old Florida law stated that a declaration of marriage in front of a judge was considered a binding agreement.

Prior to this, the pair couldn’t find any minister to oversee their vows and the orange county jail officials prohibited the use of their facility. Ted Bundy, a law student then found the loophole and used it to his advantage.

6) Conjugal visits

Conjugal visits are not allowed for death row prisoners. So, it was surprising to all that Boone managed to conceive. Some even speculated that Boone had snuck a condom into prison, had Bundy put his semen into it, tie it shut, and return it back to her through a kiss.

However, these are just wild speculations. As crime writer Ann Rule points out that it is not only possible but common to bribe guards in prison which allowed couples to have sex in numerous places in the facility. Some of these places included behind the water cooler or on the table in the prison’s outdoor park.

7) It was quite shocking for the world to know that a serial killer managed to marry and impregnate someone while on death row and the people needed answers. They starting asking Boone how she managed this but she asserted that she did not owe anyone an explanation.

Anne Rule, a friend of Ted Bundy stated that she does not know about Rose Bundy’s whereabouts and she respects her and her mother’s privacy, further stating that Rose has grown up to be a fine young woman.
